Happy Valentine’s Day! I know there are mixed feelings about the holiday but for me personally I love pinks and reds and hearts-definitely hearts. I love flowers and chocolate and any excuse to be reminded that love should be the focus of our days I am up for celebrating.
Today I was treated to a lovely handmade gift from my 7 year-old son. He made me a paper frame of our most recent family photo and added colored cotton balls around the perimeter. It was beautiful! It meant so much to me that he took it upon himself to make a gift for me.
Tonight we will give the kids little goodies-nothing extravagant but I did want to make them something and this weekend I realized I was running out of time. So I decided to make little canvas paintings for them. I wanted to keep them simple and something that was unique to each of them.
I made the hearts using collage and painted the backgrounds with their favorite colors and added some glitter glue. I added their names as well but to be honest they didn’t come out that great. Some of the letters blurred a bit but I am pretty sure they will still love them.
I made a video showing you how I made them. It’s really easy and you could do so many variations and you don’t really need any special materials. You don’t need the mini canvases you could just as easily use cardboard from packaging and collage right over it. Instead of glitter glue you could outline the heart in more acrylic paint or even string that you glue down. The possibilities are really endless.
I hope you like this little craft. If you make one please comment below I would love to see it!
